Murphy USA opened its first retail store near a Sam’s Club parking lot in Chattanooga, Tennessee in December 1996. The rest, as they say, is history. Since that time, we’ve partnered with some of your favorite retailers, including Walmart, Lowe’s, and Dollar General to provide you with quality gas in the most convenient locations at the best prices available.
Today, we operate more than 1,100 Murphy USA and Murphy Express stores in 24 states throughout the U.S. — helping nearly 2 million customers every day to get where they need to go.
Based in El Dorado, Arkansas, Murphy USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Murphy Oil Corporation — a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange (“MUR”). Founded in 1950, Murphy Oil is an international oil and gas company that produces oil and natural gas in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Republic of the Congo and conducts exploration activities worldwide. The company’s Murphy Oil USA, Inc. subsidiary operates the Murphy USA and Murphy Express retail gasoline stations.

Murphy USA is passionately committed to our communities and neighborhoods, and we have always been avid supporters of local youth sports teams. Team Murphy USA is the natural next step for our community outreach. We wanted to grow beyond just helping out a few local teams to create a program that ties all of our teams together and provides opportunities for other youth in our neighborhoods to join Team Murphy USA!
